PMS

Postby gracenoah » Fri Oct 17, 2008 6:36 am

Hi, everyone.

I struggle so much with PMS, usually for about a week every month. I have been having a wonderful week, so close to God, praying, eating healthy, staying positive, feeling his love and joy. I woke up this morning a different person. I am physically exhausted, I have little to no patience, my thoughts are so negative, noise is annoying me!, and even if I pray, read, etc., I start my next task back to feeling miserable.

Does anybody else suffer with PMS and if so, how do you handle it?

Thanks so much,
Jill

GraceNoah,
You have described me to a tee!
I can be in such a great place, trusting God, not worrying etc then WHAM I am worrying, letting my thoughts go wild, totally insane. It is such a struggle just to pray even.
I am going to go to the doctor week after next and see what he can do for me. I will let you know what he suggests.

10 days....that is how long I PMS. I too get negative and feel like God is a million miles away. Some days I think I am maybe going crazy because the kids drive me crazy but then I realize what the calendar is saying work harder on my feelings and emotions. Sadly I am allergic to anything that can be prescribed for PMS. Hopefully you can find something with your Doctor.
Hang in there!
Hugs

I am going through the same thing as well. I feel HORRIBLE during that week. I also go through the emotional roller coaster, and the past few years add migraines and vomiting. My most recent visit to the doctor resulted in her giving me a birth control pill wherein I will only get my period every 3 months. I got through the first month, but still felt horrible (physically ill, emotional) during that week, I assume from the lower dose of the hormone. I too would appreciate any feedback as to anything that has helped! I pray for everyone going through this.

Hi ladies!

I took birthcontrol pills from the time I was 15 until I was 32, except for the period of time I quit so I could get pregnant.

My husband and I became concerned over what I was putting into my body (they make these things with pregnant horse urine), so he had the big "V" and I quit taking the pills.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I thought I was going crazy!! My skin changed, my hair changed, my breasts changed and I gained weight. My appetite was like a buffalo. I was also having periods about every 3 weeks.

So, I do everything with herbs. I went and saw the lady I purchased herbs from and told her that I was on the verge of killing someone. She gave me some progestrin (sp?) cream. The immediate effect was amazing. Your body absorbs a lot through the skin, so that is why it worked so quickly. Anyhow, she then had me purchase an herbal combination called Female Comfort (from a group called Natures Sunshine --- I am sure other herbal companies would have something similar). I took those and some evening primrose oil.

Within 2 weeks I was back to my old self, I finished the herbs I purchased and haven't had to do anymore. I think it depends on your body.

I would recommend:
1. See your doc to rule out fibroids or endometriosis, ect.
2. Eat well. Excercise. Very important.
3. If you have weight to lose, do that also. I don't mean waif-skinny... but just normal weight. Extra fat on a woman messes with her hormones. I can't remember where I have read this at, but your local library or the internet may provide more info.
3. Herbs if the above items all check out. And a GOOD multi-vitamin

I do strongly recommend a good herbal store as opposed to drug store brands as well. There is a huge difference.

Hope this helps!

oh yes, i too know the feeling. I was actually thinking of posting the same thing, I just hadn't got around to it. So thank you so much for bringing this topic up. This is such a "real" experience for women and downplayed in it's seriousness.
Thank you Bondservant for your suggestions ... I am very interested in the cream that you spoke of - i will have to try it.
I have done the loosing and binding prayers for this matter as well ... loosing myself from the effects of PMS and binding myself in the healing power of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I am not trying to take away the need for practical suggestions - as I need them too, however I can tell you that this can be a time that we can draw closer to Him (read and pray more than you normally would - if of course you can seem to focus - as I know this can be an enormous challenge). The more we do it, the easier it can become! The Holy Spirit will draw near to us as we call on Him more in these times :)
God bless you and much love in Christ,
Erica

I have tried Progesterone, at first it seemed to help but not so much anymore.
I still haven't been to the doctor but do plan on going soon before I hurt someone :D .

Don't hurt anyone!! hehe, we have all felt like that at moments! (with or without pms)

I can't stress a visit to a thorough doctor enough. So many things can cause problems with our hormones, from thyroid to cysts. I am usually telling people to run the other direction from doctors, but I know how much our hormones mess with our bodies.

Lovelevi, the cream may not have worked because it wasn't what you needed. I loved the pills I took (the Female Comfort from Natures sunshine). What I love about herbal remedies is they are gentle, your body processes them easier and I know that God gave us a way to help ourselves naturally. I good herb store should be able to help you find a correct formula.

(side note: I have an underactive thyroid. I take an herbal combo called TS-II with hops... I feel great, my throid levels are normal, and as an added bonus the herbs in the combo also help the liver, which supports normal cholesterol levels. My last cholesterol reading was 138)

I very rarely take any type of over-the-counter or prescription medication. BUT, make sure everything else checks out first. Herbal combinations can be dangerous if you are treating the wrong thing or take other medications. Always check.

Prayers are with you ladies that suffer with this.

((hugs)) Melissa
